In this August's issue of Harper's Bazaar, they list 9 Rules of the Season. Here they are:
1. Opt for Hot Shades of Purple and Pink
Personally, I really like this trend. It's good to finally see designers setting bright trends for fall rather than the regular dark shades, tights, and blazers. Pink and purple are the perfect colors to do it too. Those are two colors that most people wouldn't normally expect to see in a fall fashion line up, and they add a lot of flavor to the boring feel of winter.
2. Add a Touch of Fur
Not much different from fashion a few years ago, but as long as it's fake fur I'm all for it.
3. Grab a Doctor's Bag
I like this style a lot. It's classy and elegant, perfect for the work place, but it can also be dressed down with some jeans and flats. Not to mention some of these bags are huge! Just enough room for everything you need and more.
4. Go Mad for Plaid
I've never been a fan of plaid. I don't know why, I just don't find it very attractive. But hey, if it's one of the rules I guess I'll have to get used to it! Maybe I could try just a dab of plaid sometime myself.
5. Try Long Leather Gloves
I love this look! It's chic looking without being too trendy. I'd love to get my hands on (or in) a pair of these gloves sometime. Although I should probably wait until it gets a bit colder. Shorts with a tank top and long, leather gloves might look a little silly.
6. Choose Camel
This look seems a bit bland for me. I'm a very upbeat girl, so I like to keep my style that way. Although this color would be perfect for something business like, which I hope to get into a bit of sometime soon.
7. Let Leopard Rule
Ever since I can remember I have loved leopard print. I used to have my room decorated with it when I was a kid. Although today I'd rather not sleep in the jungle, I still love the look for the runway. It's classy, fun, and a bit exotic looking. My main point of the story: keep in mind that I started the leopard trend when I was merely a first grader.
8. Winterize Your Sandals
I like this style also. It's different, but not too strange looking. Perfect for school or work, this look can obviously be very versatile if you play with colors and sizes.
9. Pick Cobalt and Grape
These two have always been classic colors to me. They can both be used either formally or dressed down. These colors can be good for shopping, dining, or making business deals. I love tailored women's suits in these two colors, along with blouses and shoes as well.
So I guess overall the rules for the new season seem decent. Some of the looks I'm not pleased with but maybe they just need some getting used to. Most of them, though, I'm uber excited to try on and wear out on the town.
