My opinions have gone country

So normally I could care less about the country side of celebrity famousness BUT I got the latest issue of ELLE yesterday with Carrie Underwood (who I used to think was a tad bit overrated) and I decided I kinda like her. The cover picture of her is GORGEOUS. I love everything about it - the hair, the clothes, the accessories, the big white smile that I envy! I liked the edgy black and whites of her inside the mag also, but I wasn't too into the article. The whole Jessica Simpson/Carrie Underwood battle is so 7th grade to me. It's like... your man moved on. You should too by now. You are a grown woman who not only had CHACE CRAWFORD but could probably have any other guy you wanted, why bother being bitchy at the risk of messing up something good going on? Ick, boring. But anyways, here's her lovely pic:

So I guess I should say that the whole reason I'm mentioned Carrie is because I was browsing people.com and saw pics from the CMA's of her and Taylor Swift, asking who looked better.

Now, Taylor Swift is not one I am too fond of. The first time I heard of her was when her videos were airing on The-N (wow you really made it.) and then again when she starred as the "celebrity" date for a prom show on MTV. I could do that stuff and I haven't been invited to any awards so why should I be happy for her! I also just don't really like the way she comes off. She seems like one of those people who tries really hard to seem down-to-earth and cool so that viewers will think they can "relate" to her. I don't like anybody who tries to put on a "dorky" or "fun" act for attention, not even "celebrities."

Here's my opinion of what would be the best and worst for each girl:

Photobucket

This
Georges Chakra dress I absolutely loved of hers. I thought it was very cute and elegant but fun also. This is something that I could see myself wearing in highschool but it works amazingly as a formal adult mini-gown also. The color, the embelishments, I think everything is perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

Photobucket

Now THIS dress. What the hell was she thinking? It's like she decided to just pick some random rather large dress out of her grandmother's closet and try to pull it off as fashion. There is a difference between vintage and garbage, hunny. No offense to grandma, but this dress should not be on stage - or anywhere really. The color is loud yet boring and the shape is just completely wrong. People.com didn't even say who the designer was. Hmmm, I wonder why - I guess it was just too embarassing to unleash. Sorry Taylor, but I absolutely hate it.

Photobucket

Really Taylor's fashion that night was really just a trainwreck of bad choices. This one, once I blocked out her face and concentrated on the actually atire, I decided I liked. I think that Christina Aguilera could pull off this Kaufman Franco gown MUCH better, but I guess Taylor would have to do that night. I think if it were me I would have first gone tanning before the night, so that my skin didn't disappear with every flash. Then I would have worn my hair down, maybe half up - the style Carrie perfects. Maybe some large earrings or a huge huge diamond cocktail ring. I'm all about 20s glam so I would definitely wear lots of curls and dramatic make-up - including red lips. This dress is way to advanced for her plain old style.

Photobucket

To me it was hard to pick a bad dress for Carrie. I thought she looked good in all of them, but I have to admit there were a couple that I didn't think she quite pulled off as well as the rest. It was between this
Pamella Roland collumn gown and a long black gown with ruffled layers going to the floor. Neither one in my opinion looks too bad, but if it had to be one I'd pick this one. The color kind of reminds me of an 80's cremesicle, and there is absolutely no shape to it whatsoever. I would have atleast belted it or worn my hair down, but that's just me.

Photobucket

To me, I think it's obvious who won this contest. Go Carrie!

Another person who I think really has it going on lately is Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr. When the show first started I didn't really think she was all that great but in the new season I love her style and after she got these extensions it only improved! The outfit in this picture I absolutely love. It closely resembles the red version that Shenae Grimes (Annie) wore on Monday's episode of 90210. Love ittttt.

The Island Reunion....ugh

So last night's final episode of MTV's The Island was interesting... to say the MOST. The hour was filled with childish screaming, finger-pointing, and crying. First of all, every time Paula tried to talk, she just couldn't because she was so darn sad. She just couldn't help but cry because of how Johnny fucked her over! Come on. Give me a break. It's a game, Paula. Learn to play it. I'm sorry miss piggy but the crying has got to stop already. We all know you wanted to win but for 75k I think you would've done what you had to too! I was not impressed with her attempt to guilt-trip Johnny and win over the crowd. Sowwy.

Also, Kelly Anne. What a fucking trainwreck. I'm sorry but this girl has just gone so trashy since the real world ended. I mean, not that she was that great when she was actually on the real world, but since then she has just gone soooo downnnnnhill. geez. i was just embarrassed watching her on that reunion. Everytime she said something i just cringed. Between the flinging around of her hands and the stomping up and down for emphasis on her words I just could not stop shaking my head. What a pathetic example of someone who is holding onto their reality mtv career with a very tight grip.

Photobucket

That's her myspace picture, in case you didn't get what I mean.

On the bright side, we all got to see that Evelyn took her $75,000 and put it to good use - she blossomed into a girl! I loved her new feminine look. Why can't I ever get my hair to look that good? Go Ev!

Photobucket

Here's some clips from the show to showcase what I'm talking about. Also, Christina's new video, old video, and the VMA "Ain't No Other Man" and "Like a Virgin" videos from a couple years back, just for reflection on the past. :) Enjoy!

my latest entertainment

Alright so, first of all I'd like to say that I am SUPER pissed that there was no monday entertainment this week. I got all excited and all ready to sit down and enjoy my favorite shows and it turned out that BOTH One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl were NOT airing a new episode. WTF? So yeah, I was pretty peeved.

But hey, atleast tuesday there WAS a new episode of 90210 on... which I might add was quite juicy. Annie and Ethan seem to be heating up as well as Silver and her Chris Brown, but the ending was my favorite as we watch Adrianna OD and possibly die while her bff leaves her a voicemail telling her what a complete BITCH saying "you're dead to me." Huh, well we'll see if she is next week I guess! I can't blame Naomi though, if I took the blame and got charged for drug possession when it SHOULD have been my best friend, I would definitely do way worse then just yell in a voicemail.

Another little interst of mine in the last 24 hours has been Beyonce's new song "If I Were a Boy." I heard it on the radio for the first time today and I became pretty fond of it. I love beyonce's voice, and although I think that this was a slight copy of Ciara's "Like a Boy" I can't help but enjoy the song. Supposedly she's recorded 70 songs for her upcoming album? Wow. I am totally crazy about her last album so I'm sure I'll love the new one. Here's the new song's lyrics - Go B!

If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I’d roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wated
And I’d never get confronted for it.
Cause they’d stick up for me.

[Chorus]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he’s taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

If I were a boy
I could turn off my phone
Tell evveryone it’s broken
So they’d think that I was sleepin’ alone
I’d put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she’d be faithful
Waitin’ for me to come home (to come home)

(Chorus)

It’s a little too late for you to come back
Say its just a mistake
Think I’d forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

(Chorus)

But you’re just a boy
You don’t understand
Yeah you don’t understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You don’t listen to her
You don’t care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you’ve taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But you’re just a boy

Also, I have made it well known in the past that I am a huge Britney fan, so of course I have to end this by stating that I cannot WAIT for her new video to premiere on friday. Although the song is already out, I haven't heard it. Which I have to admit is pretty messed up. But I've decided I'm gonna wait until the video to hear it for the first time - it'll make it all the more special for me! Soooo happy that Britney's back -- so happy.

Marilyn is still on top!

Yesterday I was walking through the grocery store looking over the magazine covers and I was so happy to see my number one idol Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Vanity Fair's 25th Anniversary issue October 2008.

Photobucket

"The Things She Left Behind" talks about Marilyn's belongings that have been shielded from the public until now. Mark Anderson is the man of the article as the photographer who has spent the last 2 years documenting Marilyn's disputed collection and is now letting the withheld information of her life leak out.

Photobucket

And I have to say - it's about damn time! Why the hell shouldn't everyone know the lifestyle Marilyn lived? I agree that maybe back then the public might not have been ready for it, BUT so many people honor her and see her as a true artist (me being one of them) that it seems almost silly not to let people know more about her. Marilyn kept all her life's most precious belongings in two file cabinets (see above), which both ended up with her manager Inez Melson when she died. When Melson died they were passed on and so on and so on and kept away until they were opened up to others now. Millington Conroy is the man who is allowing Anderson to photograph the items in the article, as they were handed down to him from his mother Ruth Conroy - Melson's sister in law who inherited the cabinets when Melson died. Now, I do have to admit that I don't like the idea of details of Marilyn's life being hidden from me, since I am obviously the one who should know all of them, but I hate the idea of her belongings being used to make a profit! Conroy talks about how he sold a rosary of Marilyn's for $50,000 and it just disgusted me. Yes, that is a lot of money but c'mon - a ROSARY?

Although her belongings play the lead role in this article, I really think that the fact that Marilyn is still making covers of magazines almost 50 years after she died is truly amazing. Not that she doesn't deserve it! This really is proof that Marilyn's saga is far from over. To me, Marilyn Monroe is the epitome of hollywood glamour, and I can only hope that 50 years from now she will still be recognized as just that - the way she is recognized today.

Happy 25th to the VMA's

So last night's VMA's were, in my opinion, really something to be excited for. Everyone looked gorgeous, the jokes were crude and histarical from host Russel Brand (who I just think is ridiculously funny no matter what he's doing), and Britney took home three moonmen!

I have been a fan of Britney Spears's since I was about 8 years old. I was one of the few people who really felt for her when she was going down her spiral of turmoil, and now I am proud to be one of the many who are happy to see her back! Britney started off the night with a silly skit with Jonah Hill and when it came time for her to open the show by wishing happy birthday to the VMA's, she looked amazing. Wearing a vintage Versage dress, later switching to a similar but different style one, Britney won her first ever Video Music Award for Best Female Video after being nominated for SIXTEEN awards in the past. Wow! Not to mention she won Best Pop Video and ended the evening by winning the night's most coveted award - Video of the Year. I love seeing stars make strong comebacks in their career and this girl truly deserves it. Go Britney!

Photobucket

One star who's dressing that I'm sad to say I wasn't too fond of was Christina Aguilera. I love Christina! She's one of my favorites! But I prefered her so much more in her glam-marilyn stage than whatever the goth one is that she's in now. Motherhood is supposed to make you glowing not pale. It seems as if she's resorting back to the style of her "Fighter" video. I love the girl, but this one was not my fav.

Photobucket

Jordin Sparks and Russel Brand had a little tension between them when Brand made some jokes about the Jonas Brothers and their choice to remain virgins until marriage with their promise rings. Sparks has long spoke publicly about holding onto her virginity, and when it came time for her to introduce T.I.'s performance, she couldn't help but speak out again. "I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It is not bad to wear a promise ring, because not everyone - guy or girl - wants to be a slut." Ouch. So of course once Brand got back on stage he "attempted" to apologize by saying, "I didn't mean to take it lightly. I don't want to piss off teenage fans," and continued "Promise rings, well I'm up for it. [But] a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody." Later in the show Brand mentioned the strife again when he and LLCoolJ were making jokes to one another about some lingerie-wearing backstage. Brand continued the joke by adding that LLCoolJ dressed him in lingerie, then said "but I won't continue with that because I've already been called a slut." Good for you Russel! While Brand is known for being a famous "lothario" in his native England, I can't help but agree with him. Sorry Jordin, but he's hosting the show - he's SUPPOSED to make jokes. Paris Hilton didn't get up on stage and speak out for all criminals when she was teased in previous years for her jail stint. This sorts of things are MEANT to be taken lightly. Besides, he wasn't aiming at YOU! Although the Jonas Brothers did look a big apathetic for the 2 seconds that the camera was put on them to see their look of response, I kind of doubt that they sat there the entire show without laughing at all at Brand's jokes. These guys are a huge (by some standards) upcoming band so of course he's gonna target them, that's just what hosts do to those who are becoming famous at the time. I'm all for abstinence and beliefs too, don't get me wrong, but to me it kind of makes Sparks look a tad bit critical to speak out on stage against Brand when his joke did not specifically involve her in the first place. I'm sure she wasn't the only one in the audience who agreed with the Jonas Brothers' beliefs, she just was the only one who publicly couldn't take the joke. Sheesh!

Photobucket

Another star who I feel like I just have to comment on is miss Katy Perry. You know, when her song "I Kissed a Girl" first came out and people went wild over it, I kind of was a little turned off by her just because I tend to dislike really popular songs that every single person goes crazy over. However, I've seen some interviews with her recently and they kind of made me like her more and after the VMA's I have to say, she is really not too bad of a celebrity. She seems unique, honest, and funny. Plus, she carried on the Jonas joke a bit by changing the words when she sang "Like a Virgin" by saying "Like a Jonas, with your promise ring next to mine." You know, her songs may just be a trend but I think her fun personality will keep her around for a while. Plus I like the banana on her performance outfit, it actually peels!

Photobucket

P.S.
I'm sorry to all the generations below me - but I have to say I was VERY pleased that Miley Cirus didn't win a single award. I was afraid that she was going to win over Britney in some of them, but nope! Just goes to show you the who's territory MTV is. Hannah Montana should stick to Disney and stray away from MTV for another decade.

My new toy

Oh oh! So, I am happy to announce that as of yesterday I am a proud owner of a shiny new Blackberry Curve (finally). And it's pink!

Photobucket

Yep, that's my baby. I just can't get over it, I think it's the coolest thing. I haven't had a phone with internet before so I love playing around with it at random times, like while driving...at a red light...while waiting for a bread to toast...while watching tv...while it's 7:20 and my boyfriend is sleeping... ahem - now. It's perfect for me though because now I can keep up with my fashion (and facebook) even on the go! And it's pink!

I'm Back!

So, I'm back. It's been a while and theres really no excuse to not keeping up with this thing so here I am! Now I just gotta get my thoughts together and figure out what to say.........

More soon!
