So normally I could care less about the country side of celebrity famousness BUT I got the latest issue of ELLE yesterday with Carrie Underwood (who I used to think was a tad bit overrated) and I decided I kinda like her. The cover picture of her is GORGEOUS. I love everything about it - the hair, the clothes, the accessories, the big white smile that I envy! I liked the edgy black and whites of her inside the mag also, but I wasn't too into the article. The whole Jessica Simpson/Carrie Underwood battle is so 7th grade to me. It's like... your man moved on. You should too by now. You are a grown woman who not only had CHACE CRAWFORD but could probably have any other guy you wanted, why bother being bitchy at the risk of messing up something good going on? Ick, boring. But anyways, here's her lovely pic:
So I guess I should say that the whole reason I'm mentioned Carrie is because I was browsing people.com and saw pics from the CMA's of her and Taylor Swift, asking who looked better.
Now, Taylor Swift is not one I am too fond of. The first time I heard of her was when her videos were airing on The-N (wow you really made it.) and then again when she starred as the "celebrity" date for a prom show on MTV. I could do that stuff and I haven't been invited to any awards so why should I be happy for her! I also just don't really like the way she comes off. She seems like one of those people who tries really hard to seem down-to-earth and cool so that viewers will think they can "relate" to her. I don't like anybody who tries to put on a "dorky" or "fun" act for attention, not even "celebrities."
Here's my opinion of what would be the best and worst for each girl:
This Georges Chakra dress I absolutely loved of hers. I thought it was very cute and elegant but fun also. This is something that I could see myself wearing in highschool but it works amazingly as a formal adult mini-gown also. The color, the embelishments, I think everything is perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.
Now THIS dress. What the hell was she thinking? It's like she decided to just pick some random rather large dress out of her grandmother's closet and try to pull it off as fashion. There is a difference between vintage and garbage, hunny. No offense to grandma, but this dress should not be on stage - or anywhere really. The color is loud yet boring and the shape is just completely wrong. People.com didn't even say who the designer was. Hmmm, I wonder why - I guess it was just too embarassing to unleash. Sorry Taylor, but I absolutely hate it.
Really Taylor's fashion that night was really just a trainwreck of bad choices. This one, once I blocked out her face and concentrated on the actually atire, I decided I liked. I think that Christina Aguilera could pull off this Kaufman Franco gown MUCH better, but I guess Taylor would have to do that night. I think if it were me I would have first gone tanning before the night, so that my skin didn't disappear with every flash. Then I would have worn my hair down, maybe half up - the style Carrie perfects. Maybe some large earrings or a huge huge diamond cocktail ring. I'm all about 20s glam so I would definitely wear lots of curls and dramatic make-up - including red lips. This dress is way to advanced for her plain old style.
To me it was hard to pick a bad dress for Carrie. I thought she looked good in all of them, but I have to admit there were a couple that I didn't think she quite pulled off as well as the rest. It was between this Pamella Roland collumn gown and a long black gown with ruffled layers going to the floor. Neither one in my opinion looks too bad, but if it had to be one I'd pick this one. The color kind of reminds me of an 80's cremesicle, and there is absolutely no shape to it whatsoever. I would have atleast belted it or worn my hair down, but that's just me.
To me, I think it's obvious who won this contest. Go Carrie!
Another person who I think really has it going on lately is Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr. When the show first started I didn't really think she was all that great but in the new season I love her style and after she got these extensions it only improved! The outfit in this picture I absolutely love. It closely resembles the red version that Shenae Grimes (Annie) wore on Monday's episode of 90210. Love ittttt.
